We Design to Discover.

Mars Rover Manipal came into existence in September 2014. It was the creation of 3 budding engineers who wanted to explore the robotic solutions to exploring Mars. The team started working in October 2014 at Mars Rover Manipal workshop situated in Manipal, Karnataka.

In 2014, six young undergraduates were so inspired by the success of Curiocity on Mars, they decided to build their own rover. Fast forward three prototypes, two rovers and three years later, the legacy they left behind is now India's best entry in Mars Society's premier robotics championship for students. The team strength has grown from six to twenty two. Once the pride of Manipal University, we are now the pride of the whole nation.

The first team had just 9 team members. Now the team strength has increased to 24 students spread across 4 subsystems and the team has established itself as Asia’s best rover team. The team has not only increased in size but also diversified in its field of work and sophistication.

The team has gradually improved its performance at global level and aims at finishing on the University Rover Challenge (URC) podium.
